This is a lot of fun. I took a picture of my grandson with his football helmet and made a trading card.

Social Networking

I think that both Myspace and Facebook are great for social interraction. I think that it may be hard to use this as a library tool as many of the young people who use Myspace do not consider us as being a must have contact. We would also have to take the time to constantly update information and respond to inquiries - this would have to be a new procedure like opening the front door. I have had a personal Myspace page for a couple of years and can go for months without looking at it.

I do believe that we need to find other ways of reaching out and this may be it?

meebo.com - I'm not so sure that I would use this for personal use. I can see the advantages of having this available for library users - access to information at the touch of a icon would be great. So much better than calling or going to the library for some people - especially young people that are comfortable communicating in this manner. At home my instant messenger is primarily set up so that my grandson can find out quickly - without leaving his myspace account - what I'm making for dinner.

This is so exciting - one of the biggest complaints about the WEB is that you just get taken in so many directions - to be able to choose your path or have the path choose you is great. I am going to work on getting a page set up to be my HOME page at home.

Flickr

I think that Flickr is just a great way to share photos. We have a huge family reunion every other year and spend considerable amount of time downloading pictures from family. I am going to try to use Flickr to simplify this transfer of photos. Playing with the mosiac was fun and I think it's great that you can order posters.

I think that Flickr is just great - I was somewhat disappointed in that I wanted to download images from my personal photos to create a mural but the amount of photos exceeded the monthly amount. It does not say whether or not you have to pay money for a pro account.

Hi: Just finished the introduction to this and I've already skipped a few steps - wouldn't you know it.. Probably the easiest part of this will be to play - always is and the hardest will be to use technology to my advantage.
